JEE PHYSICS MCQ: KINETIC THEORY OF GASES

1 Medium
1 of 1
Application +4 | -1
Oxygen is filled in a closed metal jar of volume 1.0×10−3 m31.0 \times 10^{-3} \mathrm{~m}^3 at a pressure of 1.5×105 Pa1.5 \times 10^5 \mathrm{~Pa} and temperature 400 K400 \mathrm{~K}. The jar has a small leak in it. The atmospheric pressure is 1.0×105 Pa1.0 \times 10^5 \mathrm{~Pa} and the atmospheric temperature is 300 K300 \mathrm{~K}. Find the mass of the gas that leaks out by the time the pressure and the temperature inside the jar equalise with the surrounding.
View answer and explanation
Correct option: C
0.16 g
Option C (0.16 g) is correct because the mass of gas leaked out is calculated by finding the difference in mass before and after the pressure and temperature equalize.
