BHMS course research: duration, permissions and registration

Check BHMS course structure, the college’s permission for the admission year, internship requirements and applicable registration records.

Published 23/10/2025 · Updated 20/10/2026

Understand the qualification you are researching

BHMS stands for Bachelor of Homoeopathic Medicine and Surgery. The NCH BHMS Regulations 2022 specify a course duration of five years and six months, including a twelve-month compulsory rotatory internship. Read the regulations with applicable amendments, including the 2025 amendment, when checking the course and internship conditions.

A recognised course title does not by itself establish that a particular college can admit students in a particular year. Use the National Commission for Homoeopathy’s official notices and the applicable admission authority’s documents for that check.

Build a college verification sheet

  1. Institution identity: record the exact college name, location and affiliating university. Avoid confusing similarly named institutions.
  2. Permission: find the order relevant to the admission year, approved course and intake. Read any conditions or later changes.
  3. Admission route: confirm the applicable entrance, counselling and category requirements in the current official documents. Do not use an older brochure as proof of current eligibility.
  4. Course arrangements: request the teaching, clinical-training and internship information, including where the training takes place.
  5. Costs: collect the official fee, hostel, deposit and refund terms and keep the document dates.

Ask specific questions about internship and registration

The 2025 amendment sets conditions before internship, including passing the required examinations and obtaining the specified provisional registration. Check the complete rule and the relevant State Council process rather than assuming that admission, graduation and professional registration are the same step.

For a career claim, ask which qualification and registration the role requires and request the current employer or regulator document. Do not infer permission to practise another system of medicine from a course advertisement.

Use this guide for a course decision

Discuss the curriculum, training environment, costs and verified career requirements with the student. Mark unresolved questions for the college or responsible authority before making a decision. This article describes how to research a qualification; it does not assess a treatment’s effectiveness or provide prescribing advice.
