CBSE Class 10 in 2026: exam policy and date-sheet checks
Read the official two-examination policy, identify historical 2026 dates, and check subject codes before planning Class 10 revision.
What changed from 2026
The CBSE notification dated 25 June 2025 sets out two Class X board examinations from 2026, with the first examination in February and the second in May. Under its general rules, students must take the first examination. Eligible students who pass can improve up to three subjects from the specified group. The notification separately addresses compartment and absence cases; a second examination is not an unrestricted replacement for missing the first.
Confirm your eligibility with your school using the complete policy and the applicable examination notices. Internal assessment and school deadlines also need separate attention.
A dated example: the second examination in 2026
The official date sheet issued on 23 April 2026 lists the following subject dates. These are historical 2026 dates, not a timetable for 2027 or another session.
| Subject | Code | 2026 date |
|---|---|---|
| Mathematics Standard / Basic | 041 / 241 | 15 May |
| English Communicative / Language and Literature | 101 / 184 | 16 May |
| Science | 086 | 18 May |
| Social Science | 087 | 21 May |
This is a selected-subject example, not the complete date sheet. Read the PDF for other subjects, examination times and instructions.
Build your own checked timetable
- Open the CBSE examination circulars and select the correct class, year and first or second examination.
- Match subject codes to the school registration and admit card, including Basic versus Standard Mathematics.
- Record the notice date and check whether a later revision supersedes it.
- Confirm reporting requirements and travel arrangements with the school.
- Work backwards from confirmed dates, assigning specific revision and paper-review tasks to the available sessions.
Keep one checked timetable shared between student and parent. When a date changes, update that copy and the revision plan together rather than relying on an undated screenshot or a hypothetical calendar.
